Why should we avoid contact between raw foodstuffs and cooked foods?

Cooked food will become contaminated through even the slightest contact with raw food. This cross-contamination is direct, as, for instance, once raw food comes into contact with grilled food. It can even be indirect and subtle for instance, through hands, flies, utensils or unclean surfaces. Thus, hands ought to be washed when handling unsound foods, e.g. poultry.

Similarly, utensils used for raw foods ought to be fastidiously washed before they're used once more for grilled food. The addition of any new ingredient to grilled food might once more introduce pathogenic organisms. During this case, food must be completely grilled once more.

Cooking can kill most food poisoning organisms .It is important not to spread the organisms from the raw food back to the cooked food. Keeping raw and cooked food separate stops the bacteria from raw food re-contaminating cooked food.

Raw food will contain dangerous micro-organisms, which might cause food borne diseases. Once raw food is mixed with hard-baked food, the juices from meat or food with the micro-organisms could also be transferred to the hard-baked food. This can be referred to as cross-contamination.

Cross contamination happens once juices from raw foods are available contact with safely barbecued foods, or with different raw foods that do not have to be compelled to be barbecued, like fruits and vegetables. The juices from some raw foods, like meats and food will contain harmful bacterium that might cause you to and your family sick.
